Rene Descartes believed that the mind was what made your eyes see not the body. He believed that the mind was what kept us alive, this leads to his idea that “Since we think we must be alive.” This illustration above contains the idea of an “ irrefutable truth”. An irrefutable truth is a truth that is based on what your brain is telling you to see not what you're actually seeing in reality. What is happening in the illustration above is the man's brain is telling him what he sees but in his eyes there's doubts. Therefore his philosophical view on the image above would be the truth in the mind but doubt in the eyes/body.
